Anyone else ever get so busy they forget half the stuff they need to do, or is it just me? It seems like the whole week has been like that, one thing right after the next.  I haven’t got as much writing done as I would like. Not that I have not written anything, because I have. It’s just been more sporadic, and sometimes at 5:03 AM when I have been wakened for the eighth time in the two hours I have been trying to sleep.

Life can be like that sometimes. Today is the first quieter day I have had in a long time, and I’m writing this while watching the kids play outside. Even so, I know I have a list of chores to get done, an endless supply of kids’ questions to answer, monsters under the bed, dogs to care for, and other caretaker jobs. Some days it feels like the day will never end, but I’m a parent before I’m a writer, and I know my kids are only little once.

Sometimes we have to remember to keep the big picture in mind, and not allow the small nitty-gritty things in life to keep us blind to what we will regret if we do not take the time to do it now. One day my kids will be grown, but writing will still be here. Some days I have to double-check my priorities. I won’t say I always make the right choice, but I will say, “Today is a good day.”
